Apollon's Gold KENYA Gititu
This was our first time buying coffee beans from Gititu, and also our first time tasting the terroir of Chiambu. During the cupping, we were thrilled and very happy to introduce Gititu to everyone.
This coffee is primarily composed of the SL28 variety, but also contains small amounts of Ruiru11 and Batian. While grown at a relatively low altitude for Kenyan coffee, this batch unexpectedly exhibits the delightful juice characteristic of top-quality Kenyan beans, along with notes of blackcurrant reminiscent of fine Pinot Noir. Furthermore, it displays surprising floral aromas, which are uncommon for low-altitude Kenyan coffee.
In the glass, we can smell the fragrance of white peach, followed by the juicy blackcurrant reminiscent of wine, and finally the floral aroma of orange blossom.
Degassing methods
We recommend degassing coffee for at least 35 days and up to 70 days. Our coffee typically reaches its peak around 45 and 60 days after roasting, and is best enjoyed between these times and 90 days.
Our full roasting method results in an unusually long degassing time, but trust us, once your coffee is properly degassed, you'll be able to enjoy its deliciousness.
*Please ensure that the coffee is not vacuum-packed or frozen during the degassing process.
