This lot is handled by 2020 Cup of Excellence winner Niguse Gemeda Muge.

Morke Drying Station (DS) purchases cherries from its own farms and from small farmers within a 5km radius.

You may be surprised by the [altitude] - 2340 to 2420 meters!

Even by global standards, this is an extremely high altitude for coffee cherry production. The acidity and flavor of the cherries are enhanced during the slow ripening process at this high level. Moreover, the average temperature is around 14-15°C and there are few pests, so no pesticides are used.

Morke DS is surrounded by a natural forest where you can also find enste (Ethiopian banana), a plant that is eaten in the area. Although its appearance is similar to a banana, the edible part is the starch stored in its rhizome.
