"Imabari" is a place rich in towels in Ehime Prefecture in the Shikoku region. The reason why the place is famous for its towels is that Heisuke Abe transformed the cotton flannel machinery in 1894, and towels began to be mass-produced in Imabari City. In its heyday, it even accounted for more than 50% of the national towel production. Imabari has quite superior weaving technology and has always been the OEM production base for fashion brands such as Burberry and Celine, producing various complex and delicate patterns. In the 1990s, in the face of competition from overseas cheap towels, Imabari's towel production began to decline year by year. The Shikoku Towel Industry Association, composed of local towel manufacturers, finally realized the urgency of reform. Fortunately, in 2006, Kashiwa Sato reshaped Imabari towels and made Imabari towels the LV of towels.

Sato first designed a logo for the association. That is an identity and a certification that allows "Imabari Towel" to shoulder expectations and more responsibilities. The move behind this is that Sato has set 12 very strict and practical indicators for the quality of towels. In addition to basic safety, touch, and environmental responsibility considerations, there is even a "Towel will sink if you put it in water for five seconds." standards to verify water absorption. And only towels that can pass a series of standard tests are eligible to bear the "Imabari Towels" trademark. It is a red, white, and blue trademark: red symbolizes passion, blue symbolizes high-quality water, and white symbolizes sincerity. This is also the promise of "Imabari Towels" to its products.

Towels must go through the twisting step. The untwisted system is a special Japanese twisting method. It means that it is not made of several yarns twisted into one, so it is called untwisted. The gaps between its fibers contain more air, so they are fluffier and softer. When exposed to water, these spaces can absorb moisture. Therefore, the fabrics woven with no twists are as absorbent as sponges.
