Mel Coffee ETHIOPIA Guji G1 Rasta
The Guji region is located in southern Ethiopia and is, along with the Yigacheffe One of the main coffee producing regions in Ethiopia. Surrounded by a rich natural environment, the coffee cherries grow in conditions ideal for coffee cultivation (high altitude, fertile, well-drained soil, wide temperature range between day and night), producing a complex flavor with concentrated sweetness and acidity. Due to the high altitude and complex terrain, mechanical harvesting is not possible. Therefore, every grain is carefully harvested by hand.
In the Guji region, the Ulaga area is at a particularly high altitude, and BNT continues to operate as a producing area of high-quality coffee. They are making high quality coffee in a washing factory in the village of Neneshbo.
The name “Rasta” was inspired by a story I heard about the nearby “Rasta Village” while living in Hawassa, a key point on the way from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, to Guji. We named it “Guji-Rasta” in homage to the sacred country of Ethiopia and its wonderful taste.
