townsfolk coffee NICARAGUA Buenos Aires Maracaturra
The Maracaturra variety is characterized by its red apple flavor and maple-like sweetness. As the coffee cools slightly, it develops bright fruity notes reminiscent of white grapes and lychee, offering rich and delicate layers of flavor.
This coffee has a balanced mouthfeel, and after being honey processed, it achieves a good balance of sweetness and acidity, resulting in a smooth and pleasant taste.
Maracaturra is a hybrid variety developed by crossing the Typica varieties Maragogype and Caturra, and it was discovered in Nicaragua in 1979. Although its beans are larger in size, the overall flavor profile is soft and delicate.
This variety is widely cultivated across several farms belonging to the Buenos Aires Group and has won numerous awards in the Cup of Excellence (COE) competition.
Finca Buenos Aires is one of Nicaragua's most renowned estates, having previously won the COE championship. The farm is located in Nueva Segovia, northern Nicaragua, near the Honduran border. The Valladarez family, who operate the farm, originally hailed from Honduras but relocated to the area due to civil war unrest.
They gradually expanded their land and now own ten farms, managed by fourth-generation members, brothers Luis Emilio and Olman.
Throughout generations, the family has been committed to consistently producing high-quality coffee and actively adopting new technologies, including meticulously recording and analyzing data during processing to ensure continuous improvement in coffee quality.
