Lonich, COLOMBIA Quindío - Andean - Finca Mazatlan - Castillo - Honey Infused Lychee
After 72 hours of dry anaerobic fermentation in sealed tanks, lychees are added for further fermentation. The coffee and lychees are then dried on African raised beds at a controlled temperature below 35°C until the beans reach the ideal moisture content.
The Castillo variety was developed by the Colombian National Coffee Federation (FNC) and has higher yields and greater resistance to rust than the Caturra variety.
Producer Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee grower from Colombia's Quindío region. He co-founded Cofinet with his wife, Luz Elena Salazar, and their two sons, Carlos and Felipe Arcila. Jairo worked as a factory manager for Colombia's second-largest coffee exporter for over 40 years until his retirement in 2019.
In 1987, Jairo purchased his first coffee farm, "La Esmeralda," and planted the Caturra variety for the first time. The profits from the farm's coffee led him to acquire five more farms: Villarazo, Mazatlán, Santa Monica, Maracay, and Buenos Aires. During the harvest season, he provided jobs for local residents and actively promoted the regional economy.
With the help of his sons, Hero has accumulated invaluable knowledge and experience in picking, selecting, and processing coffee. He uses this expertise to consistently produce high-quality coffees that showcase the exceptional flavor characteristics of the region’s unique terroir.
