townsfolk coffee PERU Pacaybamba - SL09 (Inca Geisha)
This lot presents flavors reminiscent of transparent fruits like Shine Muscat grapes, Meyer lemons, and peaches. Its clean and bright profile, with delicate floral notes, has earned it the moniker "Inca Geisha." This particular lot is of the "SL09" variety, cultivated exclusively in Incahuasi, Peru, a secluded paradise boasting top-tier terroir.
SL09 boasts an exceptionally rare flavor profile—intensely fruity, highly floral, and remarkably clean in its cupping performance. It has captivated countless green coffee buyers globally, becoming a prominent focal point in the specialty coffee world. Due to its astonishing flavor, it was colloquially known as "Inca Geisha," but recent genetic analysis has confirmed its DNA to be very similar to "SL09." SL09 is actually an Ethiopian indigenous variety selected and bred by a Kenyan research institution.
It is believed that when these seedlings were first brought from Kenya, their varietal information was incomplete. However, when it debuted in a green bean competition, its exquisite and elegant flavor, comparable to Geisha, earned it the title "Inca Geisha." Once you taste its blossoming, graceful, and delicate flavor, you will understand that the name "Inca Geisha" is truly well-deserved.
The Pacaybamba Farm, which produced this lot, is nestled on the slopes of Mount Pucchoquesafra, a blessed location rich in natural ecology. Thanks to its exceptionally high altitude, coffee cherries ripen slowly on the trees. Coupled with volcanic soil rich in organic matter and minerals, these factors collectively nurture top-quality coffee with excellent, delicately charming acidity. The producer, Salustio, took over the farm from his father, also a coffee farmer. Despite only seven years of independent coffee production, he proudly won an award in last year's COE (Cup of Excellence) green bean competition.
