QOL COFFEE PAPUA NEW GUINEA Collbran Estate

Sale price HK$140.00

Colbran Farm We received excellent Papua New Guinea (PNG) coffee with a clean taste and bright acidity. This coffee is produced in the east of Mount Hagen, opposite the western production area we are currently using. The quality control staff was surprised by the quality of the coffee and immediately decided to deal with it. The farmer is Nicole Colbran, who is 70 years old and is mainly responsible for external communication with buyers from various countries. Her daughter and family are responsible for managing the farm and coffee, but Nicole is still actively involved. "I'm at retirement age, but I still can't help but speak up. I know it's a bad habit, but if I see even the slightest flaw in quality or farm management, I can't help it," she said with a little embarrassment.
Colbran Farms began in 1962 when the owner's father, Ben Colbran, began planting coffee seedlings. Initially, the farm was small, with only a few hectares of land, but gradually it grew and now has 300 hectares of land, planting a variety of coffee varieties.
Varieties include Arusha, Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, Mundo Novo, Geisha, and a small amount of Catimor. Nicole said that initially, Typica and Bourbon were the main varieties in the area. The farm has 60 full-time employees, but during the harvest season, they hire more than 500 people to pick coffee beans every day. During the peak harvest season, the operation of the processing plant will completely change. A large number of coffee beans and people will gather in the evening, and the processing will be carried out at night.

Good coffee comes from simplicity "I believe in planting with care, fermenting with care, drying with care, and selecting with care." This is Nicole's motto. From these words, it can be seen that this farm does not use any special processing methods. Anaerobic method, carbon dioxide maceration method, immersion method, yeast method, etc. Nowadays, various processing and fermentation methods are popular, but the coffee they produce is always carefully cleaned. The ripe coffee beans are purified with clean water and then sun-dried on the farm's African coffee bean beds. This process lasts about three weeks.

The parchment management system during drying is also very strict. The African coffee bean beds are managed according to the farm area and harvest date, and are carefully stirred and dried during the drying process without mixing any raw materials. After drying, the parchment is left for a period of time to stabilize the quality. The farm will store the parchment in a temperature-controlled warehouse for at least one month. The coffee produced in this way is a simple but delicate crystallization with a very sweet, gorgeous flavor and rich acidity. Even as it continues to expand and develop into a large farm, Collbran Farm still insists on producing excellent quality instead of pursuing efficiency blindly. It has also attracted widespread attention from all over the world, and every year even before the picking begins, orders from various countries are already full.

QOL COFFEE successfully passed the WWOC preliminaries with these coffee beans and qualified for the Asian Games, becoming an unforgettable coffee bean and producer. The finishing process of these coffee beans seems to reflect Nicole's personality, with a soft and sweet aftertaste and a long aftertaste. Although the quantity is limited, we hope that they can be roasted to a degree similar to that of the competition. However, since the taste will be affected by external factors, we cannot guarantee exact consistency, but we hope to provide some coffee beans that are similar to it. Please enjoy!
