townsfolk coffee ETHIOPIA Chelchele Tariku - Natural

Sale price HK$140.00

A refreshing fruity flavor, like peach and orange. A smooth texture and a lingering sweetness.
This is a town favorite that we introduce every year! If it's your first time trying it, we highly recommend starting with this coffee.

This single-origin batch is quite rare, because in Ethiopia, most smallholder farmers combine their harvested coffee cherries into a single batch. This coffee, however, is made exclusively from cherries harvested from the farmland of producer Tarik Mengesha (hereinafter referred to as Tarik).

Located at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, the farm experiences significant diurnal temperature variations, creating an ideal environment for coffee cultivation. Tarik meticulously manages the farm to high standards, planting the 74112 variety, selected by an Ethiopian research institution, with neat rows spaced 2 meters apart. The well-ventilated dry area is perfect for producing high-quality sun-dried coffee.

Tarik is a highly respected local leader who, together with his efficient team, produces approximately 30 tons of coffee annually.

During the sun-drying process, the harvested cherries undergo another selection, with only the ripest fruits chosen for each batch. They are then transported to African-style elevated beds and thinly laid out, where they are turned and sorted for three consecutive weeks until they reach the ideal moisture content.

About townsfolk coffee

townsfolk coffee is located in the center of Kanazawa, right in front of a lush park. Large windows offer views of the city and changing seasons.

The owner accumulated work experience in specialty coffee shops in Tokyo and Copenhagen, Denmark, and opened this store in July 2020. They only produce high-quality coffee with unique flavors, and they strive to blend the best of Japan and Denmark to deliver delicious coffee.

Scandinavian coffees tend to get the spotlight for being lightly roasted, but they excel at recognizing the potential of each coffee and creating flavors that express it in the most appealing balance possible. At townsfolk coffee, they follow Nordic roasting methods to create authentic Nordic roasted coffee with a taste that even Japanese people can easily relate to.
