LiLo Coffee Roasters KENYA Nyeri Karatina AA Washed
◉About production and processing facilities|Karatina factory
The Karatina factory is one of the factories owned by the Barichu Agricultural Cooperative. 1,450 small-scale producers use the plant to ship cherries.
The area is covered with volcanic soil rich in minerals and organic matter, suitable for coffee production. In cool climates year-round, coffee berries need time to accumulate nutrients and be ready for harvest. The cherries are purified with fresh water from the Lagati River and then dried in the sun on African beds.
One of their jobs is to establish an education system for coffee farmers on agricultural techniques, fertilizers, planting methods, etc. In particular, supporting producers and protecting the environment and nature are among their themes.
In terms of support to producers, we provide financial support for emergency situations such as tuition and investment in agricultural products, and we also actively provide support in agricultural training and fertilization. In recent years, the national environmental awareness has been increasing. We actively protect the environment and set up special drainage pits to filter wastewater generated during the oil refining process.
In addition, we encourage every producer to plant trees other than coffee to protect the natural environment.
We believe that each of their tasks improves the yield and quality of coffee for local producers, brings profits to the producers themselves, and results in stable profits and environmentally sustainable coffee production.
