ONIBUS COFFEE RWANDA / Ruli 0304
Dukunde Kawa (meaning "coffee lovers" in Rwanda) cooperative was established in 2000 and is located in the northern part of Gakenko district. This is one of three washing stations owned by the association and is the largest.
It also houses a dry grinder, cupping lab and café, and serves as the union’s flagship station. Cherries that grow slowly at high altitudes and in places with plenty of rainfall have their bodies and fruits fully developed.
The cherries are brought in from small-scale farms and undergo visual inspection and water screening to remove unripe and overripe cherries. During the pulping and drying process, we select only the best coffee beans by hand-picking them for specific gravity and defects.
0304 means harvest on April 3rd. The fact that the product is divided into batches based on harvest date demonstrates the association's high level of quality control.
It's a wonderful association that creates a virtuous cycle where profits are used to put money back into members and invest in equipment.
