This premium coffee, from the runner-up of the 2022 Ethiopian Coffee Competition, has a refreshing and sweet taste!

This [Ethiopian/Kenean Dukamo Getta 120-hour anaerobic fermentation] is the work of a young Ethiopian coffee grower who won second place at the 2022 Ethiopian Coffee Competition with a score of 90.25.

Kenean, the grower of this coffee, works at Daye Bensa Coffee, a company founded by his father, where he is the third-generation owner and leader.

Two years ago, we first introduced Kenean coffee as part of THE COFFEESHOP Tomigaya's 10th Anniversary Celebration Series.

The coffee we're introducing today comes from the same region and uses the same production process as the coffee that Kinian Coffee won second place at the 2022 Cup of Excellence (COE) in Ethiopia.

The core flavor of this coffee is a rich, sweet, and refreshing grassy aroma reminiscent of muscat grapes and melons. Its unique and delightful flavor sets it apart from other Ethiopian coffees.

The bright, sweet acidity changes significantly with temperature, with aromas progressing from citrus to stone fruit, grapes, and berries, while tropical fruits and strawberries emerge in the nasal cavity in turn.

This coffee has a sweetness reminiscent of chocolate, but it becomes bitter when served hot. The chocolate flavor transforms into a milky aroma after cooling, resembling white chocolate. Chocolate, sometimes even like Apollo Chocolate.

Its sweetness and flavor are so complex that I find it difficult to decide which words to use in the product description. Since the taste can vary depending on the aging time and brewing method, I suggest trying different keywords to describe this coffee.

About THE COFFEESHOP

Although THE COFFEESHOP is located behind the quiet Komaba campus of the University of Tokyo, it still attracts a large number of coffee lovers to come and make a pilgrimage, which shows its appeal. Walking into the store, the open space houses a large American-made coffee roasting machine, allowing you to clearly see the coffee craftsmen roasting beans and hand brewing operations, adding to its charm.
Since opening in 2011, THE COFFEESHOP has only focused on roasting and brewing techniques. The store manager, Daichi Hagiwara, was attracted by the pursuit of delicious coffee and joined in 2016. He quickly won the roasting master team challenge championship in 2018. Here, each coffee bean is carefully selected and repeatedly cupped, allowing you to easily taste the layers and ultimate flavor of coffee!
