townsfolk coffee GUATEMALA El Calagual "Pache - Natural"
It has flavors of tropical fruits like papaya, and sweetness from dark fruits like blackberry. The finish is reminiscent of refined chocolate.
This coffee was selected and purchased from a batch of samples provided by the local exporter PRISMA COFFEE ORIGINS during a visit to Guatemala.
A rare Pache variety is the Typica variant discovered in Guatemala in 1949. It has a relatively short and compact growth habit, allowing for high-density planting and thus increasing yield.
The Santa Rosa region, where this farm is located, has gained increasing attention in recent years, with a growing number of Cup of Excellence award winners. PRISMA COFFEE ORIGINS is dedicated to helping small producers improve their quality and export capabilities, bringing these previously little-known producers to the world's attention.
Prisma Coffee Origins was founded in 2013 by Eduardo Ambrosio and his family.
In the Guatemalan coffee market, which is dominated by large commercial batches, PRISMA focuses on the sourcing and sale of high-quality coffee and emphasizes supporting local small producers, connecting buyers who value quality and are willing to pay a reasonable price for good coffee.
During my visit, I was deeply moved by the passion of many small farmers for the Guatemalan coffee industry—they spoke with hope about the potential and challenges, and worked tirelessly to improve quality and bring their carefully produced, excellent coffee to the world.
